Reflection On Freedom
Looking back over the 4th of July holiday weekend, I feel that it’s easy to get caught up in the festivities and fireworks and forget about the meaning behind what they represent. On July 4th in 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, thereby announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain. While the Constitution provides the framework for the law and government in the United States, it is significant also in that it became a global declaration that all people “are created equal.”Throughout the year, we have witnessed an astounding number of political uprisings and protests around the world and we’ve seen acts of great valor, defiance and resilience. Many of these protests stem from the growing frustrations of people with the greed and corruption within their governments.July 4 marked the birth of a nation built on the ideals of Freedom, Civil Liberty, and Democracy. Fed up with the oppressive abuses of the Britain government, the people of this country fought for our independence and the establishment of a nation where people are not oppressed, but encouraged to express their opinions and beliefs. During these times of drastic changes in technology and global politics, it is incumbent upon us to make sure that our own government does not betray these principles. Not in Afghanistan, Guantanamo, or the halls of its own agencies like the NSA.With Independence comes great responsibility. We the People are responsible for keeping our government in check and ensuring that it remains a government “by the people, of the people and for the people.” Now that the festivities are over, let us roll up our sleeves and work hard to protect the rights that so many have protected for so long.A Special Note from John PerkinsDear Friends,I am so excited about the 7-session course I began teaching last night, Monday July 8th entitled “The Path of the Dreamshifter: A Shamanic Journey to Awaken Your Highest Creative Powers & Birth Your Soul’s Vision into Reality!” These sessions are held over the phone!
